About the artist

Vanessa Brici is a Brazilian photographic artist currently based in Germany. Vanessa’s practice focuses on physically altering images, turning each of them into unique handmade pieces. For this, she employs processes such as hand-coloring, image transfers, printmaking, and more.

Her work originates from a place of introspection, delving into themes such as selfhood, transience and memory. Every element of an image is selected to contribute significance, leading the viewer on a journey from investigation to discovery.

She began photographing shortly before obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After she finished her studies, she decided to dedicate her life to her passion for art. Vanessa’s artistic journey started as a means of dealing with emotional challenges and promoting her own mental health. The work she creates encourages her to look for beauty and joy in periods of potential distress, allowing her to shape reality in harmony with imagination.
